Hi!  I’m Nan, creator of Basilove.  I am a single mother of two beautiful kids, a former Teacher-turned-Recruiter, and a maker of many things.  

My soap making journey began about ten years ago with an American Girl doll named Anabel... I was recently divorced after 15 years of marriage and was trying to adapt to being on my own for the first time in my life.  My 5-year old daughter, Samantha, and I were just starting to get into American Girl dolls and  were having a lot of fun playing together. We decided the dolls needed a bunk bed. We went to the American Girl website, ready to splurge a little and excited about a new addition to the doll house.  My heart sank when I saw the price - $125!?!  For a doll’s bed?  I couldn’t believe it.  I definitely couldn’t afford it!  I decided maybe I could make it myself.  Some wood, a few nails, some paint...how hard could it be?  Amazingly, I discovered woodworking plans with step-by-step instructions for the exact doll bed!!  A couple hours and a few dollars later, we had a bunk bed for Anabel and I was armed with the newfound knowledge that I was capable of far more than I’d realized!
Since then, I’ve made many things, including tables, lamps, chairs, and all manner of bath and body products. I’ve found that I love making all natural soap!  I’m passionate about learning new recipes and providing people with natural alternatives that nourish the skin with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. I’m excited for you to be part of my journey and can’t wait to see what we can create together!
